L'exposition Light Metals Heavy Waits est l'occasion de voir des œuvres récentes des artistes d'art actuel Diane Morin et Sarah Rooney, dont le jumelage inattendu a créé le contexte pour un dialogue et pour la création d'une installation avec espaces flottants.
Diane Morin présentera des œuvres dans une section de l'espace où deux tuyaux de cuivre apparents transportent l'eau chaude et l'eau froide à travers le bâtiment.
Sarah Rooney présentera des œuvres dans une section de l'espace où deux fenêtres industrielles, avec des cadres en aluminium, apportent la lumière du jour dans la pièce.
The exhibition Light Metals Heavy Waits features recent works by actuel artists Diane Morin and Sarah Rooney, whose unexpected pairing has created the context for a dialogue and the creation of an installation with espaces flottants.
Diane Morin will present works in a section of the space where two visible copper pipes carry hot and cold water through the building.
Sarah Rooney will present works in a section of the space where two industrial windows, with aluminum frames, bring daylight into the room.

Diane Morin s’intéresse au passé des médias et des sciences pour créer ses installation in situ. On y retrouve des reconfigurations et reconstitutions de dispositifs esquissant une archéologie poétique de l’image animée, de l’informatique et des instruments scientifiques. Elles impliquent une approche DIY (Do It Yourself) du « faire », qui se veut une démarche de bricolage engagé, valorisant les processus matériels, les détournements d’objets et les pratiques du « faire sans savoir ». Ses installations sonores, cinétiques ou lumineuses sont expérientielles; elles invitent à porter attention à nos relations à notre environnement et aux pouvoirs d’animation et d’inanimation de la matière.
Diane Morin revisits the past of media and science to create her in situ installations. We find in her work reconfigured approximations of devices and instruments acting as a poetic archeology of computing, science and animated image. The installations involve a DIY (Do It Yourself) approach to “making”, which valorizes material processes, the “détournements” (rerouting) of objects and the practice of “faire sans savoir” (doing without knowing). Her sound, kinetic and light installations are experiential, inviting us to pay attention to our relationship to our environment and to the power of in/animating matter.
Sarah Rooney est une artiste dont la recherche visuelle agence des relations subtiles entre le visible et l'invisible à travers la peinture, la photographie et l’installation. Son travail trace la frontière où la représentation entretient des réseaux abstraits, interpellant l’idée du paysage contemporain et des écologies précaires. Travaillant à l'intersection de différents contextes géographiques, elle crée actuellement des trajectoires de rencontre avec des fragments d’images et d’objets – des interruptions douces (soft interruptions) qui ont commencé sur le mur et se sont propagés dans l'espace. Elle s'intéresse aux notions de déplacement géographique, à la matérialité de l'image et aux formes de traduction à travers les matériaux. Ses œuvres proposent des altérations dans la distance, l’instantanéité et le temps.
Sarah Rooney is an artist whose visual research combines subtle relationships between the visible and the invisible through painting, photography and installation. Her work traces the boundary where representation harnesses abstract networks, touching the terrain of landscape and precarious ecosystems. Working at the intersection of different geographical contexts, she is currently creating trajectories of encounters with fragments of images and objects - soft interruptions that began on the wall and have spilled out into space. She is interested in notions of geographical displacement, the materiality of the image and forms of translation through materials. Her works propose reflections on shifts in distance, immediacy, and time.
